Parking in Grand Palais

Originally built for the Universal Exhibitions in 1900, this building soon took the Parisian’s hearts. Its mix of stone work, glass and steel, coupling both Baroque and Classical styles gave it a modern edge, perfect for a 20th century Paris. 

Parking in Paris is perhaps not loved so much, with public parking limited to 2 hours, it’s hardly great to really get into the art or events that take place here at the Grand Palace. Dedicated to the glory of French art

It sees 2 million visitors every year, so it’s fair to say it’s on a lot of people’s To Do lists when they come to Paris, and who could blame them? It’s fantastic! With 40 events staged each year. It was designated a historical monument in 2000, plus as it’s dedicated to the ‘Glory of French Art’ - so it’s full of the best! 

The Palace houses multiple Salons, like the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, the Salon d’Automne and the Salon Comparaisons, as well as the Palais de la Découverte Science Museum to the west side of the building. 

You may recognise this building! Well that’s because it was used in the final stage of the Tour de France, riders rode through the magnificent nave on their way to the Champs-Elysées, as well as hosting the 2010 World Fencing Championships. Paris loves this building so much that it’s even part of the official 2024 Paris Olympic bid.

The Grand Palace also has great public transport links with the closest metro stations being Franklin-D.-Roosevelt (lines 1 and 9) and the Champs-Elysées-Clemenceau lines 1 and 13.
